A man and his daughter have been killed in a septic tank explosion in the Morkun area in Tongi of Gazipur early on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Mostafa Kamal, 60, and Mukta Begum, 22.
Witnesses said Mostafa was injured when his house tilted towards a nearby house after the septic tank under his house exploded around 3:30am.
The doctor declared him dead when he was rushed to Tongi Government Hospital.
Later, locals recovered Mukta’s body from the nearby house.
Tongi model police station Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain confirmed about the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “Mostafa and his daughter Mukta were asleep in nearby rooms when the incident took place. Mukta’s mother had gone out of the house for a wash at the time.”
