Police has arrested Sundarganj Municipality Mayor Nurunnabi Pramanik from his residence on Saturday for his alleged involvement with the killing of four police personnel on February 28, last year.
Mojammel Haq, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj police station said: “The mayor was arrested around 7:30pm as police found his involvement with the killing of four constables and conducting vandalism at the police station following the verdict against war criminal Sayedee on February 28, last year.”
Police said four cases were filed in this connection accusing 132 named and more than 60 thousand unnamed.
The name of Nurunnabi was not mentioned in the case. But later police investigation found his involvement in the incidents, police said.
The local Jamaat-e-Islami sources said Nurunnabi was the treasurer of the upazila unit Jamaat.
