Activists of Jamaat and its student wing Shibir attacked Satkania constituency MP Abu Reza Mohammad Nizamuddin Nadvi at a religious programme in Chunati area of Lohagara on Friday evening.
Md Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that the Jamaat-Shibir activists started throwing shoes at MP Nizamuddin Nadavi as soon as he arrived at the programmme.
Later, the MP took shelter to a nearby mosque.
When contacted, MP Nizamuddin Nadvi, who wa still inside the mosque claimed the attack was pre-planned to harass him.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
