Diplomatic correspondent of Bangla daily Inqilab, Ahmed Atik, gave his confessional statement on Wednesday afternoon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid recorded his statement before sending him to jail.
Atik's lawyer Syed Ahmed Gazi told the Dhaka Tribune: "The magistrate denied the bail petition and sent him to jail after recording his confessional statement."
