Blogger Rajeeb murder: Charge sheet against 8

Detective Branch of police has submitted charge sheet accusing 8 persons in blogger Rajeeb Haider killing case on Tuesday.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court will take the charge sheet into cognizance on Wednesday, Moksedul Alam, recording officer of CMM court, told the Dhaka Tribune.

Eight suspects, including Ansar Ullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmania and six students of North South University, have been made accused in the charge sheet.

According to the news portal of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), other seven accused persons were Faisal Bin Naim alias Dweep, 22, Ehsan Reza  alias Rummon, 23, Maksudul Hasan Onik, Naim Sikder alias Irad, 19, Nafiz Imtiyaz, 22, Sadman Yiasir Mahmud, 20, and Reduwanul Azad alias Rana, 30.

Of them, Redowanul Azad Rana remained on the run.

Two weeks into the killing, DB personnel arrested five students of the NSU from the capital’s Khilgaon, Kakrail and Panthapath.

After the arrest, the detained NSU students confessed that they had killed Rajeeb under the directives of Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmania.

Rajeeb Haider, who was one of the activists in the Ganojagaran Mancha, was hacked to death by the criminals near his residence in the capital’s Pallabi on February 15 last year.

Ganojagaran Mancha began on February 5 hours after war criminal Quader Mollah was sentenced to life imprisonment.
