ACC quizzes gunman, driver of ex-judge

Update : 27 Jan 2014, 06:17 AM

Two affiliates of the former judge, who acquitted BNP Vice Chairperson Tarique Rahman in a money laundering case, were being quizzed on Monday.

Anti-Corruption Commission was inquiring the driver and the gunman regarding the wealth of the ex-Judge Motahar Hossain at the commission's office in Segunbagicha.

The duo, both appointed by the government, appeared before the anti-graft watchdog in response to a notice served for their summon on Thursday.

Driver Sohrab Hossain said he was quizzed about how long he was working with the ex-judge and regarding the wealth of the former judge.

“I have been working with him (Motahar Hossain) for 18 months. I do not know about the wealth of the former judge,” he told the media after interrogation.

Gunman Badal Dewan was being interrogated inside the commission office since last reported.

Ex-judge Motahar Hossain acquitted Tarique Rahman in a money laundering case. The ACC began investigations against him two weeks after Motahar left the country for Malaysia.

On Thursday, two stenographers Abul Hossain of the speedy trials tribunal 4 and Nurul Islam Molla of the special judges court were quizzed.
