Customs officials seized 2.5kg gold from an expatriate living in Dubai at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday.
Nazrul Islam, 43, was detained from a Qatar Airways flight that landed Dhaka around afternoon, customs Assistant Commissioner AKM Wahidul Islam said.
The man had gold bars hidden in his body, the official said. A case was filed with adjacent police station regarding this matter.
The man has been handed over to police. Insiders said the man was suspected to be part of an gold smuggling racket.
