Eminent academic of Bengali literature Professor Anisuzzaman has been selected for Padma Bhusan, the third highest civilian award in India.
He along with 24 others will be awarded by Indian government for their outstanding achievement on art, literature, culture and sports, Hindustan Times reports.
Of the Padma Bhusan awardees, 22 are Indian while two others from the USA.
Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order. The award is conferred by the president at a ceremonial function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
