PM spends afternoon with distinguished persons

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today spent some time with artists, singers, players, high civil, military and police officials as she hosted a tea party for them at her official Ganabhaban residence. BSS reports.

Sheikh Hasina had detail conversation with them about many regards. They also enjoyed patriotic songs and shared laughter and joy.

The physically-challenged children, who won a number of medals in the Special Olympics, last year also joined the nearly two-hour program.

Besides the singers and poets, officials of Prime Minister's Office, Bangladesh Army, Special Security Force (SSF), Bangladesh Police and Ansar and VDP enthralled the audience by performing songs and reciting poems on a decorated dais set up on the southeastern corner of Ganobhaban

Eminent singers Abdul Jabbar and Timir Nandi, InspectorGeneral of Police Hasan Mahmud Khandakar, Planning Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, Poet Muhammad Samad and officials of Bangladesh Army, SSF, Police, Ansar and VDP and members of the special Olympic team performed songs and recited poems.

The cultural session of the tea party was rounded off with the recitation of poem by Muhammad Samad. Cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor, who is also the minister for cultural affairs, conducted the cultural session.

The guests were entertained with various kinds of traditional pitha (cakes) like pati-sapta, puli, bhapa and chitoi, and kebab, parata, nan ruti, sweetmeats, tea and coffee.

A number of "kure ghars" (huts) decorated with pottery and handicraft items were set up, while there were "fuchka" and "chotpoti" vans at the lawn of Ganobhaban to entertain the guests.

University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hussain Bhuiyan, Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral M Farid Habib, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Inamul Bari, Principal Secretary Shaikh Md Wahid Uz Zaman, IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandakar, senior secretaries including Abdus Sobhan Sikdar, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh Major General Aziz Ahmed, Director General of RAB Mokhlesur Rahman, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Mia Muhammad Joynul Abedin and SSF Director General Major General Sheikh Aman Hassan attended the programme, among others.

Besides, noted artist Qaiyum Chowdhury, President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, former BFF general secretary Harun-or-Rashid, former national cricket team captains Raqibul Hasan, Akram Khan, Minhazul AbedinNannu and Naimur Rahman Durjoy, former national footballers Badal Roy,Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul, Sheikh Md Aslam and Satyajit Das Rupu, and actors Razzak and Faruk joined the programme.

PM's Advisers Dr Moshiur Rahman, Dr Gowher Rizvi, Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique and Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Special Assistant (media) Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were present,among others.
