The Election Commission has asked for the deployment of the army for five days during the upazila parishad elections.
SM Asaduzzaman, public relations officer of the Election Commission, made the disclosure to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday afternoon.
The commission made the demand during a meeting with the law enforcers at the EC secretariat in the afternoon.
However, the commission has sat in another meeting amongst themselves to make a final decision on the matter.
