Another accused in the case filed in connection with the attack on the convoy of Asaduzzaman Noor was found dead in Saidpur upazila in Nilphamari on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Atikur Rahman, Joint Secretary of BNP’s Topamari union unit.
Nilphamari Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahjahan Pasha told the Dhaka Tribune that Atikur was the fourth accused in a case filed with Nilphamari Sadar Court in connection with the attack Asaduzzaman Noor’s convoy.
Shahjahan Pasha said: “Atikur and Shibir activist Mohidul Islam, went missing last week.”
“Atikur’s family members had come to the police station to inquire about them,” he said.
The OC said though Atikur was found death this morning but Mohidul was still missing.
Earlier, BNP leader Golam Rabbani, 40, prime accused in the case was found dead in Nilphamari sadar upazila Saturday morning.
On December 14, five people died and several others were injured when the convoy of Awami League leader Asaduzzaman Noor was attacked during polls-campaign.
The attack on the Awami Legaue leader who is also a cultural personality created a sensation during that time. Jamaat-e-Islami were blamed for the attack.
A lawsuit was filed against 14 named and over 1400 anonymous others.
Asaduzzaman Noor is the cultural affairs minister of the Awami League government that came to power following the 10th parliamentary elections on January 5.
