Supreme Court judges will enjoy special allowance equivalent to a half of their basic salary.
The cabinet on Monday approved the draft of the Supreme Court Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Law, 2014, keeping a provision of giving 50 percent special allowance to the higher court judges of their basic salary.
Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan came up with the disclosure to the media after the meeting.
The draft was approved in the second cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The move for a pay-rise of the judges came two weeks after Awami League was re-elected to power through the 10th parliamentary polls held on January 5.
The draft will now wait passage through the House to be made into a law.
