The government is yet to specify on the appointment of a chairman to tribunal 1, for what a crucial war crimes verdict is pending.
“We will appoint the chairman of tribunal 1 soon,” Law Minister Anisul Haque told journalists after a meeting on Sunday afternoon.
The chairman seat for International Crimes Tribunal 1 was vacated after Justice ATM Fazle Kabir retired on December 31 for age limitation.
The crucial war crimes verdict of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami has been currently stayed because of this.
However, the newly-formed government of the Awami League is yet to specify on the appointment of a chairman to this tribunal.
Law Minister Anisul Islam was speaking to media at the High Court premises after holding a meeting with Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain.
Law ministry will provide all necessary assistance for ease of the flow of cases in the judiciary, the minister added.
