Private media firms, which include television channels and online media, will soon come under the monitoring of the government, according to what the information minister said.
At a media briefing at the secretariat on Sunday, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said a commission will be formed for the monitoring.
The statement came days after the publication of daily Inqilab was sealed off after a “fabricated” news on Indian army inside Bangladesh territory.
Inu said the government had a 100-day work-plan which included formulating policies for television and online media services.
“It is our duty to protect the media from ill-practice. We will continue our fight against terrorism,” he added.
