Foreign diplomats in Bangladesh have stressed commencing dialogue between the government and any opposing parties as soon as possible for holding fresh poll, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam.
The newly appointed junior minister presented the diplomats’ stance to reporters after briefing the diplomats about the government’s position on the recent election.
When asked whether the diplomats urged for the dialogue to hold a mid-term election, he said: “They [the diplomats] did not clarify on the matter.”
The diplomats also asked BNP chief Khaleda Zia to refrain from violence, said the junior minister.
