A Dhaka court ordered jail authorities to show justified cause for their failure to produce Oishee Rahman for a bail plea hearing to be held on Wednesday.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj asked Dhaka Central Jail authorities for the show cause. However, no time frame was specified.
The bail hearing date was set after a plea in this regard was lodged on January 11, Oishee's Lawyer Prokash Ranjan Biswas told the Dhaka Tribune.
Another petition was filed regarding the provision of education materials for Oishee ahead of her Ordinary Level (O-Level) examinations, he added.
The bail hearing was supposed to take place in the presence of Oishee. but the jail authorities did not produce Oishee, who stands accused of killing her parents.
Oishee Rahman, 19, is accused of murdering her parents, police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Begum, on August 17, 2012.
She confessed to the killing after surrendering to the police, but later retracted her statement. The case stirred up a sensation throughout the country during that time.
Oishee is now at Dhaka Central Jail, Lawyer Prokash Ranjan Biswas told the Dhaka Tribune. The fixed date for filing investigation report in this case is February 3.
