Farmer dies in polls-vendetta

A farmer who fell prey to arson attacks over elections-vendettas succumbed to his injuries at a Dhaka hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

Bachchu Pradhan, 50, son of late Abdul Mojid from Chandpur, died in intensive care of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit around 6am.

Resident Medical Officer of DMCH burn unit Partha Shankar Pal confirmed the death.

Bachchu Pradhan was burned when miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a vehicle near Munshirhat on January 6 during an anti-polls hartal a day after the elections.

Farmer Bachchu Pradhan left behind four daughters and a wife.

About 200 people recently died in the violence arising from disparities between Awami League and BNP regarding the 10th parliamentary elections in the country.
