Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Sheikh Hasina for her third-time premiership in the 10th parliamentary elections of Bangladesh.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Nikolaev passed on the felicitation letter from Putin to the prime minister at her Ganobhaban residence on Tuesday.
The letter carried a congratulation message, BSS reported, quoting the prime minister's media advisor Iwbal Sobhan Chowdhury.
Russian President Putin was highly satisfied with Russia's friendly relationship with Bangladesh, Chowdhury said.
Putin said they counted on the government formed by Hasina to continue the lines aimed at increasing mutually beneficial cooperation in all spheres, he added.
The Russian President wished good health and new success to the Prime Minister in her office.
Several global leaders have welcomed Sheikh Hasina after her crowning as premier following the BNP-boycotted 10th parliamentary elections on January 5.
