Eid-e-Miladunnabi observed

Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born 1,441 years ago on this day in the month of Rabiul Awal. Eid-e-Miladunnabi has been observed in the country and throughout the Muslim world on Tuesday, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SM). The day is a public holiday. To celebrate the occasion, religious, socio-political and cultural organisations have chalked out various programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country. Muslims across the country are joining special prayers and staging colourful street marches to mark the day, which is also the day of 'ofat (departure)' of the Prophet (SM). Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, other private television channels, and radio stations are airing special programmes highlighting the significance of the day. President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, greeted countrymen and the Muslims across the world for the occasion.
