Muhammad Habibur Rahman, former chief justice and chief adviser of the 1996 caretaker government, has been laid to rest at the Banani graveyard in the capital on Monday evening.
The eminent jurist was buried at 5:12pm after his second Namaz-e-Janaza which was held at Azad Mosque of Gulshan.
The First Namaz-e-Janaza for the late judge Habibur Rahman was held at Supreme Court premises around 1:37pm.
Chief justice Mozammel Hossain, Commerce Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Tofail Ahmed, Law minister Anisul Haque, Shamsul Haque Tuku, Dr Kamal, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Barrister Rafique-Ul Huq, Registrar AKM Shamsul Islam, justices from both the Appellate Division and the High Court, and lawyers were present in the Janaza.
After the prayers, Registrar AKM Shamsul Islam said: “The second session of the High Court will not be held today [Monday] as a tribute to late Habibur Rahman.”
