First session of 10th parliament Jan 29

The first session of the 10th parliament will begin on Jan 29.

Jainal Abedin, director of Public Relations at the Parliament Secretariat, told such to journalists on Monday afternoon.

The first meeting of the new cabinet will be held on Thursday morning, Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters.

New ministers attended their offices on Monday morning, a day after being sworn-in to the cabinet.

A new 49-member cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was sworn in on Sunday afternoon.

The 10th general election were held on January 5 amidst a boycott from the then main opposition BNP.

The Awami League has secured absolute majority in the 10th parliament by bagging 232 seats – 105 contested and 127 uncontested.

The Jatiya Party has become the second largest party in the parliament bagging 33 seats – 13 contested and 20 uncontested.

On Saturday (January 11), the Parliament Secretariat published a gazette notification confirming Rawshan Ershad as the Leader of the Opposition in the 10th parliament.
