Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said Saudi Arabia would recruit more 400 labourers from Bangladesh.
He made the statement while talking to journalists at Prabashi Kalyan Bhaban on Tuesday afternoon.
Khandker Mosharraf said the immigration process for the 400 will be accomplished by two agencies and the labourers would have to bear Tk17500 each.
He said: “It has always taken a hefty amount, no less than Tk5 to 6 lakh, for one labour to go to Saudi Arabia, but the costs will gradually reduce as the government’s efforts continue to curb it substantially.”
The minister said: “The recruiting agencies are the representative of the government, it would not be proper to consider it as an independent entity, which may close the ministry’s doors for them.”
