Local people formed a human chain and held rally yesterday with a call for immediate step to save and repair Raj Kumar Ghosh Road at Nabagram in Barisal city.
People from the all section of life, including teachers and students of Sabera Khatun School took part in the human chain.
Speakers at the rally said as heavy vehicles such as truck and lorry run on the road to load and unload materials of a nearby pharmaceutical company, the road was damaged soon after it renovation work. So it is necessary to repair the road as soon as possible because students of Sabera Khatun School use the road while going to school.
They also alleged that the 600 feet long protection wall which constructed by the Barisal City Corporation at a cost of Tk 20 lakh was collapsed within few days as the city authority built the wall with sub-standard materials.
BCC Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal said he had visited the spot asked the officials to issue show cause notice against the pharmaceutical company.
