University Proctor LitonMitra said they locked into a chase and counter chasearound 9:30pm centring an attack on a masters student and also office secretary of Chhatra league, Jalaluddin.
Chhatra league activists claimed that Shibir activistshacked Jalal around 8pm in Sylhet.
Witnesses said Chhatra league activists locked into a chase and counter chase when the news of the attack on Jalaluddins pread in the university.
Meanwhile, tension has spread in the area after the incident.
