Law enforcers detained four human traffickers with 60 victims as they attempted to make their way to Malaysia from the port city of Chittagong in the early hours of Saturday.
The group was caught from Bahaddarhat bus terminal area around 4am, police said. They had reserved a bus and were headed for Teknaf.
Chandgaon police station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rouf said law enforcers suspected the bus because it was overcrowded and under reservation.
Four human traffickers and 60 victims were held, he said. The victims were mostly from Jessore, Jhenaidah, Narsinghdi and Pabna among other districts.
They would have gone to Malaysia illegally through the riverine route from Teknaf, he added.
