Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has decided to take oath as MP-elect of Gopalganj-3 constituency.
On Wednesday she submitted a letter to the Election Commission informing she has quitted Rangpur-6 parliamentary constituency.
The newly elected lawmakers of the 10th parliament will be sworn in on Thursday.
Member of sub-committee of Awami League election steering committee, ABM Riazul Kabir Kauser submitted the letter, signed by Sheikh Hasina, to the commission on Wednesday evening.
EC officials said if any elected MP dies or vacates his/her seat, the commission announces the seat as vacant and holds by-election within 90 days as per the constitution.
