The deputy commissioner of Gaibandha district has been withdrawn just days after the 10th parliamentary elections throughout the country.
A new deputy commissioner has been assigned in recommendation of the Election Commission, an order of the Public Administration Ministry said on Wednesday.
Voting has been suspended in three constituencies of the district – Gaibandha-1, Gaibandha-3 and Gaibandha-4 – in view of polls-related violence in the area.
The former Deputy Commissioner Jahurul Islam Rhohel was withdrawn and posted to the Primary and Mass Education Ministry as deputy secretary.
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Secretary Ehsane Elahi (deputy secretary) was posted to Gaibandha district as the deputy commissioner.
