Sufia Islam, 40, wife of Ashulia Industrial Zone assistant police super (ASP), committed suicide by hanging herself in her house in the Rathkhola area of Gazipur on Tuesday morning.
Joydebpur police station Officer-in-Charge SM Kamruzzama said ASP Aminul Islam and his family were tenants in the house of Abdul Karim in the Rathkhola area.
He said: “Sufia Islam hanged herself from an electric fan and committed suicide when her husband left for work around 7am.”
“They have a son. The reason behind the suicide cannot be confirmed at the moment,” he added.
The OC said an unnatural death case was filed in connection to the incident.
Gazipur Sadar Hospital doctor Saiful Islam said a woman named Shamima Begum took Sufia to the hospital in a lifeless condition around 9am.
