Driver of a covered van was killed and his helper injured as miscreants hurled petrol bomb at the van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Jatrasiddhi area early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Shah Alam, 35, hailed from Comilla Sadar.
Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohipal Highway police station, confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the death.
He said: “Driver Shah Alam came under the wheels of the covered van after he and his helper had jumped from the van when miscreants hurled petrol bomb at around 12am.”
The driver died on the spot while the helper sustained severe injuries.
Helper Al Amin was admitted to Feni Sadar hospital.
The body of the driver was sent to Feni Sadar hospital morgue, said OC Jahangir Alam.
