Re-polling on the eight suspended constituencies will be held on January 16, an election commissioner said on Monday evening.
Election Commissioner Md Shah Nawaz made the statement while speaking to journalists at his office in the evening.
The Election Commission had suspended voting in Dinajpur 4, Kurigram 4, Gaibandha 1, Gaibandha 3, Gaibandha 4, Bogra 7, Jessore 5 and Lakshmipur 1 constituencies.
“Re-election in about 350 polling centres of the eight suspended constituencies in six districts will be held on January 16,” said EC Shah Nawaz.
Elections in 535 polling centres had been suspended following attacks allegedly by anti-polls activists. But, re-polling would be held in about 350 centres. Polling in rest centres would not be required as voting difference between the contestants is greater than the number of voters in the centres.
