Braving age, elderly persons cast votes

Braving the age, some elderly persons were seen casting their votes in the 10th parliamentary election in Dhaka on Sunday despite security concern.

Anik Lal Ghosh, 91, cast vote in Lalbagh Government Primary School in Dhaka 7 constituency.

Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, he said as a citizen, it was his responsibility to cast vote.

“I was told about the security concern but I did not pay heed,” he said.

His relatives who took him to the center. Purva Ghosh, 90, was also seen casting vote at the center. She went along with his son.

When asked about the security concern, Purva said, “This is my area and everyone knows me.”

Voters and the people of the area said some crude bombs blasted in the morning. But despite this, the elderly people were seen to cast their votes.

Some 887 out of 3221 voters cast their votes at the center.
