Miscreants bombed lawmen in Jessore, 11 injured

Jamaat-Shibir cadres in repeated attacks with bombs and sharp weapons left 10 policemen injured, an Ansar member and the driver of a micro bus carrying the law enforcers on Saturday night night at Samoskati village, a strong hold of Jamaat-Shibir, under Monirampur upazila in Jessore.

The ferocious Jamaat-Shibir cadres also set the micro bus on fire.

The law enforcers of the Monirampur police station faced the attacks while they were on patrol duties along with the Ansar members at around 7:30pm in the area, 6 kilometres away from the upazila headquarter.

The team of the law enforcers and security forces at first had come under attacks with bombs at their vehicle. They came under further attacks with sharp weapons when the police and Ansar men tried to resist the attackers after getting off the micro bus.

 All the team members sustained injuries in the attacks and of them while the condition of Ansar member Mohsin and driver Khaliq was stated to be critical. They were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital with hack injuries in head and stab injury in abdomen respectively. Other injured persons were undergoing treatment at Monirampur upazila health complex.

Syad Mostafa Kamal, Assistant Police Superintendent of Jessore District, admitted the incident of attacks on 11 people, including the police and Ansar members.

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, the ASP also said they had launched separate operations with additional forces to resist the attacking criminals and also to rescue some other law enforcers, who also reportedly had come under separate attacks or remained at vulnerable states in the Jamaat-Shibir prone areas.
