Ballot papers snatched in 2 districts

Election materials including ballot paper were snatched away from polling centres in Lakshmipur and Tangail on Saturday.

In Lakshmipur, miscreants snatched election materials including ballot papers and ballot boxes in three polling centres of Ramangar upazila of the district on Saturday evening.

The miscreants also assaulted the presiding officer of a polling centre and two members of police when they tried to resist them.

The polling centres are --- Komortali Government Primary School, Paniwala Government Primary School and Madhya Nagmur Government Primary School.

Assistant Returning Officer and UNO Mahbubul Alam said miscreants attacked the three polling centres and snatched the ballot papers and boxes around 7:45pm.

Miscreants, believed to be anti-polls activists, are torching and snatching election materials across the country on Saturday, a day before the national election.

In Tangail, some unidentified miscreants allegedly snatched away ballot papers from two voting centres in Gopalpur upazila of Tangail district on Saturday night.

Tanjina Islam, UNO of Gopalpur upazila said some miscreant entered Khamarpara Government Primary School under Hemnagar union and snatched ballot papers around 7pm.

Meanwhile, another group of miscreants snatched ballot papers form Shimla Public School and College under Nagada Shimla Union.

The UNO said law enforcers were conducting drives to recover the ballot papers.

However, no one was arrested in connection to the incident.
