Eight opposition activists were nabbed by the joint forces throughout Lalmonirhat fearing anarchy ahead of Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
The BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami men were nabbed in an overnight raid until Saturday morning, Satkhira police Assistant Superintendent Moniruzzaman said.
Jamaat men Liton Mia, Moktarali, Golam Hossain, Lutfar Rahman, Azgar Alim, Showkat Ali and BNP supporter Saiful Islam were nabbed from their homes.
They are involved in sabotage activities, police said. The detainees had several cases pending against them.
