Unidentified miscreants have set two polling centres ablaze in district Shahjahanpur and Kahalu upazilas on Friday night.
Witnesses said a gang of unidentified miscreants set fire at a polling centre in Shaheed Zia Primary School around 9:30pm.
Sensing the smoke, locals rushed in and doused the fire immediately. The extent of the damage could not be known immediately.
On the other hand, miscreants set fire at another polling centre in Kahalu upazila in the night. But, locals put out the blaze before it engulfed the entire school.
Confirming the arson attacks, Shahjahanpur police station OC told the Dhaka Tribune that the miscreants managed to flee the scenes immediately after the attacks. Investigation is underway in this connection.
Most of the polling centres in both the upazilas are considered to be vulnerable.
