The prevailing situation in the country is improving in the promptness of the law enforcers, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad said.
“The situation is improving as the law enforcing agencies are in action,” he told reporters at his office on Tuesday with less than a week for national polls.
The official expressed hope for further development of the prevailing situation. “People are fed-up of the long blockade programme of the BNP-led 18-party.”
“People are not in support of the programme, they will not participate in the non-stop blockade from January 1,” he said.
“There is no confusion that the January 5 elections will be held in due time,” he asserted. “We hoped good sense will prevail,” he added pointing to the BNP.
The opposition, led by BNP, called non-stop blockade from Wednesday until January 5 national elections.
