Bus services from Barisal to Dhaka has been suspended since Friday morning following BNP’s December 29 programme.
Aftab Hossain, president of city Sramik League and Barisal Bus Owners Association, said operation of Dhaka-bound passenger buses from Barisal and other parts of the region have been suspended from 11:30am Friday.
He explained that fearing the loss of properties and lives by sabotage ahead of BNP’s ‘March for Democracy’ programme scheduled for December 29, they decided to stop operation of Dhaka-bound bus services until further notice.
Saidur Rahman Rintu, AL leader and vice-president of launch owners association said suspension of Dhaka-bound launch services was yet to be decided.
“We will decide after getting decision from the central committee of the owners association at Dhaka considering the safety of the lives and properties of the passengers and vessels,” he added.
