Dhoom 3 continues record run at box office

Update : 26 Dec 2013, 06:25 PM

With its silver run at the box office in less than a week, Dhoom 3 has beaten the year’s highest grossers behind. According to estimates, on day six, the film’s total worldwide collection is Rs 31.3 billion. While the domestic box office reports stand as tall as Rs 17.3 billion, on the overseas front Dhoom 3 managed to collect the rest.

The Aamir Khan-starrer not only has got overwhelming footfalls in India but in Pakistan it is living up to its name. It has broken box office records in Pakistan with multiplexes running five consecutive shows of the film. In Karachi alone the film earned Rs 20 million and broke the record of Waar that was released last month.

The Christmas holiday falling in the middle of the week resulted in good business for the makers as well.

For the film, lead actor Aamir Khan did what he’s best at doing — marketing — albeit without making a noise this time. Khan did not do any city tours or go to TV shows to talk about the film.

“Aamir is a trendsetter. He shows that you don’t need to go to malls, cities or every show to make your film work,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Aamir, himself, had said before the film’s release: “I think in Dhoom 3, less is more. But to achieve more we feel the path is to do less.”
