United resistance against violence, destruction for peace stressed

Speakers at a post-rally discussion yesterday stressed establishing peace through launching stiff resistances involving the mass people against all sorts of violence and destructions in the name of political movements.

They were addressing the discussion on Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city after bringing out a huge procession styled “Mass Public Rally for Peace” organised under the banner of the people’s organisation “Jago Rangpur”.

Led by Convener of “Jago Rangpur” and District Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, the mass public rally paraded the city streets and gathered in the discussion on Central Shaheed Minar premises, reports BSS.

Leaders and activists of “Jago Rangpur”, different socio- cultural organisations and political parties, student and volunteer organisations, women and human rights bodies, professionals, teachers, students, civil society members and elite of the city participated.

Member-secretary of “Jago Rangpur” and noted social worker Dr Mamunur Rahman read out the peace deceleration and urged the common people to become united for stopping anarchy, destruction, terrorism and violence in the name of political movements.

With Mosaddek Hossain Bablu in the chair, Deputy Commander of District unit of BMS Motiar Rahman, district JSD President Dr Ekramul Hossain Swapan and Law Affairs Secretary of district Awami League Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick, spoke.

Gangachara upazila chairman Majibar Rahman Pramanik, General Secretary of District Shop Owners’ Association Rezaul Islam Milan, teacher China Chowdhury, Principal Professor Mozahar Ali, Secretary of District Mohila Samity Hasna Hena Chowdhury and Coordinator of district BSD Comrade Abdul Kuddus addressed.

Organiser of Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Professor Dr Swaswato Bhattacharya, President of “Unnota Mohila Paribar” Marhamatun Nesa, dramatist Sirajul Islam Siraj, Human Resources Coordinator of RDRS Bangladesh Sabrina Shamshad, women leaders Rosy Rahman and Monwara Begum also addressed.

Besides, a large number of journalists, leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chhatra Union, JSD-backed Chhatra League, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, cultural organisations including “Kakashis”, “Kanasas”, “Spandan” and different NGOs were present.

The speakers called upon the common people for forging a rock-solid unity against violence, terrorism and anarchy in the name of political movements to ensure peace in the society.
