Two alleged robbers were killed and five including a policeman were injured as police opened fire while they were conducting robbery in Baniagati area of Kamarkhand upazila on early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Munsur Ali, 28, and Al Mahmud, 26.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge west police station, said a group of robbers were committing burglary on the trucks on Dhaka-Dinajpur highway around 1:30am. The robbers attacked on police when the law enforcers obstructed them. Then, police opened fire on them.
Of the deceased, police recovered one body from the spot after the incident while another body was recovered by the locals, said the OC.
