Syeda Zohra Tajuddin, Awami League Presidium member and wife of the country’s first prime minister Syed Tajuddin Ahmad, was laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard in the capital yesterday evening.
She was given state honour during the burial.
She died of old-age complications on Friday morning at the age of 80.
A pall of gloom descended on Kapasia of Gazipur, her birthplace, after her body reached there.
Three namaz-e-janazas of Zohra were held at her native district. Zohra’s son and former state minister for home affairs Tanjim Ahmad Sohel Taj, MPs and political leaders, among others, attended the janazas.
