Update : 22 Dec 2013, 08:54 AM

Ganajagaran Mancha submitted a memorandum to the foreign ministry on Sunday afternoon demanding cutting of diplomatic ties with Pakistan.

They also handed over a note of protest to the home ministry on Sunday condemning the recent police action that took place during one of their demonstrations.

Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker handed over the note of protest to the ministry's Additional Secretary Main Uddin Khandaker in the afternoon.

After handing over the note of protest, Imran H Sarkar briefed journalists in front of the secretariat.

He said they demanded action against the police members who launched the assault on the activists.

We also gave an ultimatum of seven days to take action against the policemen who assaulted the protesters, he added.

Mancha will announce a tougher program if no action is taken against those police personnel, he said.

The note of protest called for withdrawal of individuals relevant to the assault and demanded exemplary punishment against those.

Earlier on Thursday, police and the Ganajagaran Mancha activists were locked in a scuffle when the activists were marching to the Pakistan High Commission in the city’s Gulshan area demanding cancellation of all diplomatic relations with Islamabad.

Law enforcers also charged batons on the activists who were chanting slogans condemning the Pakistani parliament's resolution on Quader Molla.
