Separate road accidents kill 4 in 3 dists

Four people were killed and seven others were injured in separate road accidents in Jessore, Narayanganj and Chadpur districts on Saturday

Two people were killed and four others were injured in separate road accidents at the Sadar upazila of Jessore on Saturday night, reports BSS.

The deceased were Nasir Morol, 42, of the Bashundia Kolonipara area and Liton Gazi, 30, of Ulashi village under Sharsha upazila of the district.

Police and witnesses said the first accident occurred when a bus hit a human hauler in the Bashundia area on the Jessore-Khulna Highway, leaving Nasir, a passenger of the locally made vehicle, dead on the spot and injuring three others.

In another accident, a motorcycle collided head on with a pick-up van in the Malonchi area on the Jessore-Benapole Highway around 10:30am, leaving motorcyclist Liton dead on the spot and injuring another.

The injured were sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Jessore 250-bed Hospital morgue. Separate cases were filed.

In Narayanganj, a RMG worker was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at the Shimultoli area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway under Araihajar upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was Taslima Begum of Rasulpur village of the upazila. Police said the accident occurred when a truck hit a human hauler from the opposite direction around 6:3 am, leaving Taslima dead on the spot and wounding three others.

The injured were sent to a local clinic in critical condition.

In Chadpur, a CNG auto-rickshaw driver died in a road accident early yesterday. The deceased were Abul Hasan, 45, of Faridganj upazila, reports our Chadpur correspondent.

Witness Md Nasir said the accident took place around 5am as a pick-up van collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw and smashed it on the spot. The driver of the pick-up van fled after the accident, said Mahbub Morshed, officer-in-charge of the Chadpur police station.
