Pakistan’s resolution on Quader Molla’s execution was the reflection of general public’s emotions, a spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Office said.
“It reflects the emotions of the general public,” Pakistani daily The Express Tribune quoted the spokesperson as saying.
The statement by the Pakistani Foreign Office come after activists of Ganajagaran Mancha attempted to lay siege to the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday to protest the Pakistani parliament’s resolution against the hanging of Quader Molla.
They activists of pro-liberal platform also demanded the cancellation of diplomatic relations with Islamabad.
“We wish the people of Bangladesh peace, stability and progress,” foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said.
She added: “Bangladesh and Pakistan have a long history and Pakistanis are safe in Bangladesh. We are looking at the future and not the past.”
Pakistan is not in the position to give a reaction to any matter, he said.
On December 16, the National Assembly of Pakistan had adopted a resolution expressing concern over the execution of Quader Molla.
Following the resolution, Bangladesh’s foreign ministry had summoned Pakistan’s top envoy in Dhaka to register its protest.
