The Holcim Awards, one of the most significant competitions in the field of sustainable development, is open for entries for the fourth cycle of the sustainable construction competition.
With a prize money of $2m, the 4th International Holcim Awards seeks leading projects from industry professionals and bold ideas from the “next generation” that will contribute to sustainability within the fields of architecture, building, civil engineering, landscape and urban design, including construction materials and technologies, said a media release.
The competition, organised by Swiss-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, will be simultaneously conducted in five regions around the world this year. The regions selected were Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa-Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
The competition has been categorised in two sections. The awards' main category is open to architects, engineers and construction firms, among others, and participants have to showcase sustainable responses to technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues with contemporary building and construction.
The second category, the “Next Generation” – young professionals and students category – seeks visionary projects and bold ideas from participants that contribute to a more sustainable built environment.
The details on the entrance procedure is available at www.holcimawards.org. The last date for submitting projects is March 24, 2014.
