A Jubo League activist who was critically injured by Jamaat-Shibir activists on Abdul Quader Molla’s halted execution-day has succumbed to injuries on Thursday afternoon.

Abdul Jabbar, 26, an activist of the Jubo League’s unit Madarbari died in the Holy Crescent Hospital sometime near 12pm, eight days after he was severely hacked by Jamaat-Shibir members.

Chittagong Additional Superintendent of Police (south) Nazmul Hasan told the Dhaka Tribune that Jabbar was shifted Holy Crescent Hospital on Wednesday and later succumbed to his injuries there.

The clinic’s on-duty doctor said the victim’s blood circulation had stopped and his kidneys were damaged because of the extreme injuries dealt.

Earlier on December 10, Jamaat-Shibir members hacked shopkeeper Jabbar near his shop in Madarbari after news of Quader Mollah’s probable execution spread within the area.

On the same night, the chamber judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain stayed the execution of the war criminal until 10:30am on December 11.

No case had been lodged with Satkania Police Station in this regard, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station.
