AG: Molla again proved a war criminal

Update : 19 Dec 2013, 09:26 AM

The resolution adopted at the Pakistan National Assembly proved once again that Abdul Quader Molla was a war criminal, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said on Thursday.

Dubbing the defensive resolution on Quader Molla’s execution “an audacity,” the official called at Pakistan to withdraw the move.

“It is not fair to comment on trial procedures without the knowledge of laws inside the country that the trial is taking place,” he said. “This is breach of international norms.”

He made the comments at a press conference in Bangladesh Supreme Court on Thursday afternoon.

Pakistan was full of criticism after war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla was executed for his crimes on December 12.

In its latest move, the Pakistan parliament adopted a resolution expressing concern over the execution of Abdul Quader Molla.

Earlier, Pakistani Minister Nisar Ali Khan had said Molla was undoubtedly executed for his loyalty to Pakistan and the move was bound to open old wounds with Bangladesh.

Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami honoured Molla as a martyr. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former cricketer Imran Khan claimed Molla was innocent and the charges brought against him were false.
