A mystery remains shrouded over inspector Shameem Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of the capital’s Khilkhet police station, as he had been remaining missing from the last five days.
There is also a rumour roaming from mouth to mouth among the police officials that he has left the country for USA with his family without informing the Police Department.
Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP-Media), said OC Shameem Hossain remained absent in his duty for last several days without informing his state and existence.
“We are looking into the matter to know about whether he is sick or there is anything else behind his absence”, added Rahman.
Asked about the rumour of leaving the country for USA, the DC said they were also verifying it.
A DMP source said the DC of Gulshan division has been asked for submitting a report on the OC of Khilkhet.
But despite repeated attempt, DC Khandaker Lutful Kabir could not be reached for his comment.
Sources in Khilkhet Police Station said the OC remained absent in his duty from December 14 and a day before he himself had filed a general diary with his police station as mentioning that he would not available from December 14 due to his illness.
The thana sources said Shameem left away the official mobile phone at the police station and his personal mobile remained switched off and even his residence in Siddheshwari also found locked from the outside.
The sources said they could know that OC Shameem Hossain have already left the country for USA.
Shameem was appointed as the OC of Khilkhet police station on August 19 in 2010.
