Indian Journalists from different media outlets will visit Bangladesh to cover the upcoming 10th general elections, scheduled to be held on January 5, says Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu.
The minister disclosed the information while talking to reporters after a meeting with a seven-member delegation of visiting Indian journalists on Wednesday.
He said: “An Indian press team will arrive, upon invitation, to cover the January 5 national elections. They will report on the election and observe the polls.
The visiting delegation will report the current situation in the country. They will prepare the report after thorough fieldwork and talks with all parties,” he added.
The minister said the government of Bangladesh upheld the liberty of the media.
Recalling the memory of liberation, Inu said, “If Bangabandhu is the father of the nation and founder of our independence, Indira Gandhi is the mid-wife of our independence.”
“Indira Gandhi’s firmness helped Bangladesh to achieve victory,” he said referring to the contribution of the Indian government, army, and people.
The Indian journalists, visiting Dhaka on the invitation of Bangladesh-India Chamber of Commerce and Industries, met Inu at his office.
