The business community came down on the streets wielding white flags, a symbol for peace, on Sunday against the on-going violence in the country.
They held a human-chain programme near the office of apex trade institution, FBCCI, in Motijheel. Some hundreds were seen participating at the event.
“If the politicians fail to run the country, they should leave it to the hands of the people,” FBCCI President Salman F Rahman said.
“We want a peaceful solution to this problem,” he said.
According to businessmen, trade had suffered greatly during October, November and the running December because of agitation ahead of polls.
This has been caused by the disparity between two main political parties of the country over how the January 5 national elections will take place.
